Speaking of Babies . . .

Has anyone else been watching the trailer for the movie, Babies, repeatedly, through teary eyes?

I don't usually post this type of link in my blog, but I'm so moved by the Babies trailer--and so excited about the release in April--that I simply had to share. I'm hopeful that the full feature will, in part, give us Westernized baby-havers a refreshing reminder of what babies really need, what babies are capable of, and simply offer us new ideas about parenting.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this, as well.

Looks fantastic! I especially love the baby at the end...and the goat who wanders over to drink from his bathwater! Ha ha!

LOVE THIS! have you read Our Babies, Ourselves by Meredith Small? You'd lovvvvve it.

Yes, KWick! I was lucky enough to read "our babies, ourselves" before I became a mama, and I reference it often (usually in explaining/defending some of our parenting choices to extended family members, etc.). This stuff is just soooo fascinating.

Mama Cas: I love the goat at the end too! I wish we'd be able to live so communally with our goats.

I hadn't heard of this, but this looks wonderful and I am really looking forward to seeing this.

The trailer reminded me of our my favorite quotes (which I have up in my daughter's room):

"The world in which you were born is just one model of reality. Other cultures are not failed attempts at being you; they are unique manifestations of the human spirit."--Wade Davis

Thanks for the heads up!

I am excited about this film as well-- just up my alley as a former Peace Corps volunteer & now mama. This is the documentary I would have wanted to make myself!

Yes, yes, yes! I took Sam to see Where the Wild Things Are a couple months ago and saw the trailer then. I've been excitedly anticipating this film ever since--can't wait to see it, and can't wait to share it with my kids.
